Dolly Parton (born 19 January 1946) is an award
winning country music singer-songwriter-musician and actress.
She rose to prominence in the late 1960s when the legendary
Porter Wagoner hired her as the female side-kick to his #1
syndicated television show. The Wagoner/Parton duets that
followed, combined with Dolly’s early 1970s solo work, shone the
spotlight firmly on “…pretty Miss Dolly Parton”. By 1976,
she had left Porter’s TV show for one of her own (Dolly), won
CMA’s prestigious ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ award and even
begun to make a name for herself overseas. The rest as they say
is history...
The songstress today
remains as passionate as ever about her recording career and to
date has released over 70 studio albums and charted more than
100 singles on the American music charts (e.g. Jolene
(1973), I Will Always Love You (1974), Here You Come
Again (1977), Heartbreaker (1978), 9 to 5
(1980) and Islands in the Stream with Kenny Rogers
(1983)). She’s also composed more than 3,000 songs, played
concert arenas across the globe and sold in excess of 100
million records worldwide. Did I forget to mention she even owns
an amusement park aptly named Dollywood.

grew up to be the ultimate 'Queen of Country Music' and
an icon of popular culture.
